We challenge you to develop online educational materials on energy, targeted at pupils aged 4, 5, and 6. We invite you to develop both the outline of a learning module on energy, and the necessary teaching materials.

Groningen DigiEduHack

Together with the University of Groningen and EIT InnoEnergy, New Energy Coalition is organising the Groningen DigiEduHack on 3 and 4 October 2019! During 24 hours, several interdisciplinary teams will be challenged to come up with a solution for one of the five different challenges. They are all about: energy, IT and education. Experts and mentors will support the teams during the 24 hours in finding the best solutions to the challenges. The best team will get the opportunity to join the global DigiEduHack award contest and win €5000,-!

Why is it important to find a solution to this challenge?

The energy transition has an effect on everyone, even on little children. Primary school is a good place to start creating awareness of the changing world. Although many educational materials have already been developed for different grades, the youngest kids (4-, 5-, and 6-year-olds) remain difficult to reach. In addition, existing teaching materials on energy are scattered and have never been consolidated into the regular educational programme for primary schools. We challenge you to develop online educational materials on energy, targeted at pupils aged 4, 5, and 6. We invite you to develop both the outline of a learning module on energy, as well as the necessary teaching materials. You are welcome to use materials that can be found online and determine which content should be developed further or is lacking entirely. The main goal of this challenge is to make children aware of the topic of energy and the changes that are happening right now.
