How to prepare for the challenge?
in order to prepare for the challenge, the participant must understand the context of the university campus and the importance of technology for the future of education. In the Queretaro edition of DigiEduHack we have defined seven sub-challenges. The participants should be familiar with the context and the problems or issues involved in each of these challenges:
1. Smart Classroom
2. Smart open learning areas
3. Student and professor engagement
4. Smart assessment and evaluation
5. Smart library and learning commons
6. Smart educational entrepreneurship
Each of the sub-challenges brings forth a different set of issues and opportunities, therefore the participants should be aware of these issues, have researched secondary sources and familiarize themselves with the context in these spaces. The participants should understand the current use of the Internet of things, connectivity and holograms, robotics, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and other emerging technologies in the educational environment, and be familiar with examples of the use of these technologies in entrepreneurial solutions.
Why is it important to find a solution to this challenge?
The future of education is in your hands! The solutions that can change the world for a better place, combat ignorance and create opportunities for different stakeholders in the educational realm are yet to be created! The use of emerging technologies can either foster or hinder progress towards better education, lower levels of ignorance, and accessible, interactive knowledge. By using the creative and innovative potential of the participants, we can co-create the future of education, that will help the progress not only at Tec de Monterrey but also on the Latin American and global scale.
What is the possible impact of a good solution?
The solutions should impact accessibility to education, knowledge distribution, learning process and re-define the learning spaces and interactions between the actors of a university campus. The potential of the solutions should be to impact education on a global scale and create opportunities for students, professors, researchers, and innovators.
What is the expected outcome of this challenge?
At the Tec de Monterrey, we are focused on entrepreneurial education. Therefore, the expected outcome and the solutions that will be developed at the hackathon should involve business logic, entrepreneurial mindset and have the potential to be scalable. At the same time, through this hackathon, we hope to develop competencies in the participants, regarding the awareness and applicability of the emerging technologies in entrepreneurial solutions.
