Welcome to the Main Stage of DigiEduhack 2020

Please join us at this year’s Main Stage Event, where we will create a virtual home for a global community dedicated to redefining the future of learning. The inspiring program provides a showcase for the hackathons happening in Europe and beyond. The event takes place in Berlin as part of Germany's Presidency of the Council of the European Union and is organized by Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Technical University Berlin (TU Berlin).

Download here the full programme in pdf

You can follow the live stream below on this page!

Over two days, the Main Stage Event brings together a diverse array of speakers for keynotes and discussions on the topics of digital education, vocational training and lifelong learning. As a hotbed of innovation, Berlin provides the perfect backdrop to envision the future of education—while the hackathons make these visions a reality.

Panel topics include:

Lessons Learned from the Covid-19 Crisis - Implications for Policymaking
Collaboration and Global Exchange - Finding Solutions Together
Future of Learning - The Innovation Potential of Hackathons
Future Skills & Life Long Learning
The Role of Digital and Green Skills in Delivering Systems Innovation
Putting Ideas Into Practice

Main Stage Event, Day 1

Day 1 kicks off with opening remarks from illustrious speakers such as Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Anja Karliczek, German Minister of Education and Research. Good vibes are guaranteed for the audience and hackathon participants with many tips and insights provided by the experts from the DigiEduHack steering group.

The first panel discussion of the day delves into the effects of the corona year, focusing on strides already made as well as the challenges ahead and will provide an in-depth look at the Digital Education Action Plan of the European Commission. In the afternoon, an inspiring panel will focus on the innovation potential of (online) hackathons and offer many practical examples. The day ends with a DJ session to motivate hackathon participants as they work well into the night.

Main Stage Event, Day 2

Day 2 completes the look at digital education. It starts with a diverse mix of speakers discussing the skills needed for the labour market and life in the future. Here, opinions of entrepreneurs will meet voices from the EU and universities. A highlight of Day 2 is the launch of the Education and Training Monitor on Digital Education by the European Commission. The monitor gathers a wide range of evidence to indicate the evolution of national education and training systems across the EU, and offers suggestions for policy reforms.

The day ends with a focus on how good ideas are transformed into real projects. Three speakers with expertise in entrepreneurship will give the participants tips on how best to turn their project idea into reality. Throughout the event, hackathon participants will join the stage to keep the audience updated on their ideas.
