School-AI
The pervasiveness of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has involved different fields of application, including education. Generative AI can be defined as a technology based on deep learning models capable of generating coherent content (e.g., text, images, audio, code) in response to a prompt. Generative AI gives a great opportunity of innovation to transformative education (the idea in its process and product in response to grand challenges).
The urgency for educators is to actively embrace this change and find ways to coexist with this technology. Changes in how we learn and evaluate information are on the horizon, and we must avoid a widespread and uncontrolled use of chatGPT-like applications in schools.
Participants are called upon to rethink education by prototyping an app or digital solution that harnesses the potential of generative AI and offers features that can enhance self-study, making it more in-depth, engaging and enjoyable while also becoming a valuable ally for teachers outside the classroom. Aspects to consider include the quality of information, how to present the solution to students to promote an ethical, conscious and responsible use of AI, and how it can genuinely improve the state-of-the-art in education and learning.
Generative AI offers a great opportunity for innovation in education. The urgency for educators is to actively embrace this change and find ways to live with this technology.
