Resources

The following presentation highlights the key aspects of our proposal.

Context

When migrants return to their country of origin, they often face significant challenges in demonstrating their skills and qualifications in unfamiliar contexts. This barrier frequently results in the loss of valuable employment and educational opportunities tailored to their needs. Mexico has become a pivotal destination for migrants, particularly amidst evolving migration policies. For instance, U.S. President Donald Trump pledged to implement the largest deportation campaign in history and to revoke automatic citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants (Reuters, 2023). From January to June 2024, Mexico's National Institute of Migration (INM) recorded 102,217 repatriations of Mexican nationals from the United States. Additionally, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported a 62% surge in irregular migration to Mexico in 2023 compared to the previous year.

Who Benefits?

Our proposal is designed for migrants who are in the process of regularizing their employment status or have already done so. It focuses on helping them certify their skills in various fields to enhance their competitiveness in the job market. Additionally, it supports those seeking educational opportunities and scholarships to maximize their potential in their country of residence. Through our platform, users will not only achieve these goals but will also gain access to a job bank and a comprehensive database of scholarships and educational resources, simplifying their integration into the educational or labor market.

Impact

The impact of EducaTech will be measured using several key indicators. Certification rates will track the percentage of users who successfully complete the program. Additionally, the number of partner companies and the new states where the platform is implemented will reflect its expansion. Long-term employment outcomes will be evaluated by monitoring participants' career progression and job retention six months to a year after placement, ensuring that the skills acquired lead to sustainable and meaningful careers.

Team work

LEI4Edu is a multidisciplinary team of five students specializing in engineering, business, humanities, and arts. United by a shared commitment to social impact, we stand out for our academic excellence, having earned full scholarships to pursue higher education. With the necessary resources, we plan to develop and initially launch our platform in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Our vision extends beyond the medium term, aiming to scale its reach across Mexico and eventually to a global audience, helping as many people as possible. In the long term, we will adapt the platform to serve additional groups, including citizens in rural areas and students with special needs, ensuring its inclusivity and broader impact.

Innovativeness

EducaTech is an AI-powered platform designed to evaluate and certify migrants' skills in areas such as laboratory work, electrical systems, and mechanical expertise. The platform offers access to a job bank and continuing education opportunities, empowering users to enhance their employability and achieve economic stability. Leveraging its advanced learning model, EducaTech identifies the most suitable learning opportunities for each individual, making it easier for migrants to access resources and tools that were previously unfamiliar to them.

Transferability

Migration is not a challenge unique to Mexico; it is a global phenomenon that also impacts Europe, where millions of people migrate annually in search of better opportunities or security (UNRIC, 2023). This approach, however, is not limited to addressing the needs of migrants. It can also be applied to the internal population, including individuals from rural areas or those who have lost their documents due to natural disasters. Furthermore, it holds potential for future applications, such as providing a tool to more effectively assess students with special abilities.

Sustainability

EducaTech will achieve sustainability through revenue generated from companies using our platform as a cost-effective solution for talent searches, interviews, and selection processes. Additionally, we aim to secure support from government agencies or embassies in the migrants' countries of residence. Our platform operates without the need for a physical space, relying instead on strategic partnerships with locations such as migrant shelters. These shelters will serve as key access points, ensuring our target audience can easily connect with our services during their journey.
