DigiEduHack 2024

Seize the opportunity, let's support people-driven digital transformation in education together!

Get ready: the 5th edition of DigiEduHack will take place 8-17 Nov 2024!

AI4Trainers

The hackathon challenge invites participants to design a prototype of an AI-based trainer that transforms the way teachers create and manage lessons, exercises, and assessments, enabling active and personalised learning methodologies for students of all ages, from young learners to adults. The goal is to develop an innovative solution that supports teachers in their daily educational tasks, making them more efficient, dynamic, and adaptable to the individual needs of students.

The AI-based trainer should function as a virtual assistant for teachers, automating and enhancing lesson planning, the creation of personalised educational content, skill assessment, and the preparation of exercises tailored to different learning levels. The system should also enable "active learning" methodologies, promoting active and engaging participation from students.

In addition to simplifying the administrative and managerial tasks of teachers, the AI-based trainer can help identify areas of improvement for each student, suggesting personalised learning paths and fostering data-driven teaching. The challenge is open to multidisciplinary teams with expertise in artificial intelligence, software development, and pedagogy, who are ready to imagine a future where AI empowers teaching and revolutionises education.

The onsite address for this blended online-onsite hackathon is: SD Factory - Laboratorio creativo, Via Brigata Reggio, 29, 42124 Reggio Emilia (RE)

Challenge and goals

The primary goal of the AI-based trainer is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching by automating and supporting key educational tasks. The solution should simplify lesson planning, the creation of exercises, and student assessments while offering personalised learning experiences for students of all ages. By enabling active learning methodologies, the AI trainer fosters more engaging and interactive classroom experiences, allowing students to actively participate in their learning journey.

Outcomes include a system that improves the personalisation of educational content by adapting lessons and exercises to individual learning levels and preferences. This AI-based solution should reduce the administrative workload for teachers, giving them more time to focus on direct student engagement and instruction. Additionally, the AI system will identify students’ areas for improvement and provide data-driven insights for teachers to adjust learning paths, thereby enhancing both teaching and learning processes.

Ultimately, the AI-based trainer aims to revolutionise the teacher-student dynamic, promoting a more tailored, innovative, and effective approach to education, empowering educators, and driving better educational outcomes.

Expectations and requirements for the solutions and participants

The AI-based trainer is expected to assist teachers by automating lesson planning, exercise creation, and student assessment processes. It should enable personalised learning experiences tailored to the needs and levels of each student, promoting active learning methodologies.

Key requirements include:

  • Integration of AI to personalise educational content and suggest learning paths.
  • A user-friendly interface that allows teachers to interact seamlessly with the system.
  • Ability to analyse student performance and provide actionable insights.
  • Support for multiple learning levels, from young students to adults.
  • Compatibility with existing educational platforms and systems.

The solution must be scalable, adaptable, and secure, ensuring data privacy and compliance with educational standards.
