Crafting Ethical Digital Futures through Media Literacy

In today’s fast-changing digital world, new ways of communication are constantly appearing due to digital technologies and social media. While these advancements bring many benefits, they also come with risks. Media literacy is very important because it helps individuals, communities, and countries participate effectively in global societies. This is especially important as Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to grow and influence many parts of our lives.

This Hackathon aims to raise awareness about the opportunities and challenges of AI technology, which will keep developing in the coming years. By using AI responsibly, we can expect significant changes in our lives. However, we must also address the ethical issues that may arise from its misuse. To help with this, the event will include sessions on how to use AI ethically.

The Hackathon will be held at Vanalinna School on November 8, 2024. It will combine theory and practical activities, focusing on the importance of media literacy for the future of society. Participants will learn about how AI impacts everyday life and how to use it responsibly. The event will also show how geo-location can reduce some risks connected to AI, helping participants improve their media literacy. After the theory part, participants will face a Hackathon challenge where they can use the skills and knowledge gained during the event.

The address for this onsite hackathon is: Tuleviku 7, Narva, Estonia

A crucial part of this hackathon is to integrate media literacy and artificial intelligence as a unified concept. Participants will enhance their AI skills and improve their media literacy awareness through simple yet useful challenges.

Expectations and requirements for the solutions and participants

The event invites young people who are curious and excited to learn about AI. No experience or special knowledge is needed. Anyone interested in how AI can affect education and society is welcome to join. This is a chance for open-minded individuals to explore and learn about AI and how it can shape the future.
