Graveler Game Jam: Digital Games for Serious Change

Do you want to create a game?

Do you believe in the power of games for change?

Or maybe you have ideas but never tried designing a game before?

We welcome non-programmers and experienced developers alike to participate in the DigiEduHack event “Graveler Game Jam: Digital Games for Serious Change” a track within the 2025 Graveler Game Festival, where students, educators, and professionals can come together to get inspired and create transformative digital games through a 48-hour hackathon. The ICFA provides a beautiful venue. Food, WiFi, group workspaces, and chill-out game spaces are provided for participants, free of charge. 🍕 Sleeping spaces are provided (but bring your own sleeping bag + iso-mat).

Organisers: UT Global Awareness & UT Digital Humanities with ICFA Tübingen. Graveler ("Global Traveler") is a serious games platform provided by the University, and available for use during the festival; other game engines are also welcome for the game jam. 🕹️

Workshops and panel discussion are not part of the DigiEduHack hackathon, but all DigiEduHack participants are welcome to join if interested

Challenge and goals

  • Create a digital "Serious Game" in which or through which one can learn
  • Your created digital game should be an interactive learning space for the player, which could be used for formal learning, informal learning, ethical transformation, or civic engagement
Expectations and requirements for the solutions and participants
  • We encourage teamwork! Bring your friend(s) and/or meet other DigiEduHackers there to form a team!
  • Bring your own laptop and charger! (Check if your charger is compatible with German outlets if you're traveling from abroad)
  • We provide HDMI cables and a large wall-mounted monitor for teams where available.
  • We provide WiFi, Food/Drinks (snacks during day, pizza dinners at night)
  • Please bring a sleeping bag (and optional iso-mat) if you wish to sleep on site (Fri - Sun).
  • Please contact us if there are concerns regarding gluten/dairy.
Available Support
  • On-site support during the event includes consultation with game industry experts in graphics, audio, narrative, and programming.
  • The organisation team will also be available for helping with project brainstorming, team formation, and equipment.
