About Hackathons

DigiEduHack 2025

Rethinking education in the age of digital skills.

HackArena

HackArena is a DigiEduHack event in Ploiești hosted by National College "Mihai Viteazul", together with two FTC teams, BraveBots and Ro2D2.

The hackathon will unite students, teachers, and innovators to explore how AI, data science, and emerging tech can improve education, sustainability, and community life through creative collaboration and problem-solving.

The event will span two days (7-8 November), combining workshops, mentorship sessions, and intensive hacking time. Teams of 2–5 participants will brainstorm and present their innovative ideas to a panel of judges comprised of members from both FTC teams, our schools, and the local tech community. Our focus is on learning, collaboration, and real impact, empowering participants to turn ideas into functional prototypes, and to gain valuable experience in teamwork, coding, and creative problem-solving. The hackathon will encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration (e.g. engineering, design, business, social impact) and emphasise learning, creativity, and community networking.

By connecting local youth, educators, and technology experts, this DigiEduHack event will strengthen our community’s capacity for digital innovation and encourage continued exploration of AI’s potential for good.

Registration deadline: 6 November 2025

Challenge and goals

Our hackathon aims to empower local innovators by inspiring students and young professionals to apply AI and emerging technologies to solve social, environmental, and educational challenges. In doing so, it will also promote digital literacy, giving participants hands-on experience in machine learning, IoT, and data-driven thinking. At the same time, we seek to foster collaboration by building bridges between schools, universities, and local companies through shared challenges and teamwork.

This collaborative spirit will drive prototype development, encouraging the creation of tangible, demo-ready projects that can evolve into community initiatives or early-stage startups. Moreover, the event will showcase youth potential, highlighting the creativity and technical skill of young Romanian innovators on a European stage through the DigiEduHack network.

Ultimately, by bringing these elements together, we aim to sustain community growth and strengthen the FTC-based innovation ecosystem in Ploiești, ensuring long-term cooperation between students, mentors, and institutions.

Expectations and requirements for the solutions and participants

Participants must form teams of 2–5 members. They can be high schoolers, middle schoolers, and optionally university students. Each team will attend workshops, receive mentorship, and develop a prototype or concept tackling real challenges in education or sustainability. Projects must show originality, feasibility, and community value, and will be presented before a panel of judges composed of teachers, student members of our robotics teams , and tech professionals. Collaboration, creativity, and impact are key evaluation criteria.

Available Support

The hackathon will be supported by Colegiul Național “Mihai Viteazul” Ploiești, providing space, logistics, and technical infrastructure. The BraveBots and Ro2D2 robotics teams can offer active mentorship sessions and technical guidance. Teachers from CNMV will supervise workshops, while alumni and local experts will assist with judging and mentoring. This collaborative support ensures a professional, inspiring, and well-equipped environment for all participants.
