1st edition 2019
The first edition of the Digital Education Hackathon took place on 3-4 October 2019 and was organized in cooperation with the Finish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Under the umbrella of the annual theme “The Future of Education in the Digital Age”, DigiEduHack brought together over 1.700 participants from 21 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, South and North America. They worked simultaneously for 24 hours and created 160 innovative solutions to the biggest challenges for the future of digital education.
The 2019 competition produced 33 winning local solutions, which were evaluated by the DigiEduHack jury based on the relevance, quality, originality, feasibility, transferability, and sustainability of the solution proposed. 10 of the 33 were designated as finalists. A global audience of over 4.200 people accessed the DigiEduHack platform to vote for their favorite solution.
This is how the three winning solutions were selected: “Teaming 4.0” (Mexico) a solution that uses artificial intelligence to create better teams; Science Escape Room (Italy), which offers students an immersive learning experience through a scientific virtual escape room; and last but not least, Student4Student (Spain), the mobile platform that provides high-schoolers with information on career options in the field of Informatics, enabling contact with university students and encouraging especially female students to pursue careers in STEM.
The main stage event took place at the Aalto University, in Finland.
