Speakers from across higher education and research shared both the opportunities—such as improved student confidence and creative AI applications—and the challenges, including over-reliance, ethical concerns, and the need for digital literacy.

Discussions highlighted that ethical responsibility must be shared among developers, educators, institutions, and policymakers, while reinforcing that human connection, empathy, and critical thinking remain essential in the age of AI. A strong message emerged: teachers are not being replaced—they are being redefined.

Coming up: Webinar 2: Building Digital Literacy Through Hackathon Challenges

From critical thinking to responsible digital citizenship, the session will unpack how challenge-based learning can bring the DigComp and DigCompEdu frameworks to life in classrooms and communities.
