Solution summary

ADAPTATEC is a study platform designed to cater to the unique needs of every learner. With this tool, educators can easily craft a customised learning journey, adaptive and dynamic lessons, assessments, and feedback mechanisms tailored to each student's cognitive profile, including those with cognitive divergences such as ADHD or autism.

The goal of this platform is twofold: it aims at helping teachers with the planning and teaching, and aims at giving support to schools, which do not have the economic resources to meet the individual needs for each student. It also prioritises accessibility, ensuring that every student, regardless of ability, can fully engage with the learning experience: text-to-speech capabilities, adjustable font sizes, and other accessibility options guarantee that no learner is left behind.

Additionally, the platform also allows the use of data-driven analytics to gain valuable insights into the progress of each student, enabling the tracking of student performance, identifying areas for improvement and providing targeted interventions to enhance their learning experience.

Solution details

Our solution is a study platform aimed at helping students with getting the specific help that they need and helping teachers to do their job.

The main features are:

The Integrated Learning Platform is a comprehensive digital solution designed to cater to the unique needs of students with cognitive divergences, such as ADHD or autism. This platform is meticulously crafted to provide adaptive tools for teaching, assessment, and feedback, ensuring an inclusive and supportive educational experience.

There will also be a large language model similar to ChatGPT that will act as an individual teacher to students, guiding them through tough questions and explaining theoretical concepts. 

Specialized assessment tools are integrated to accommodate the varied cognitive profiles of students. These assessments consider factors such as attention span, processing speed, and sensory sensitivities, ensuring a fair and accurate evaluation of the student's knowledge and progress.

The platform facilitates timely and constructive feedback mechanisms. Adaptive feedback features take into account individual learning patterns and preferences. This ensures that feedback is delivered in a format that resonates with each student, promoting a positive and encouraging learning environment.

The goal of this platform is to aid teachers with planning and teaching. From the student's perspective the goal is to give support to schools that do not have the economic resources for the individual needs for each student.

Our initiative aims to address this by creating a user-friendly educational tool. Featuring adaptive learning paths and universal design principles, it caters to diverse needs, including students with special requirements. The platform not only supports students but also empowers teachers with resources and fosters a global community for collaborative learning. With a cloud-based infrastructure, our goal is to break down geographical and resource barriers, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all.

One crucial dimension is its effect on student performance, where improvements can be tracked through standardized test scores, grades, and subject-specific assessments. By monitoring indicators such as an increase in average grades, reduced achievement gaps, and improved scores in subjects targeted by the tool, we can gauge the direct impact on the academic success of students.

Another significant impact area lies in the enhancement of teacher efficiency. The solution aims to provide teachers with tools that streamline administrative tasks, allowing them to dedicate more time to personalized instruction and support. The measurement here involves assessing the time teachers spend on individualized guidance before and after the implementation of the tool. Indicators include a decrease in administrative workload, an increase in time spent on personalized teaching, and heightened job satisfaction among educators.

Furthermore, the impact extends to increased accessibility, measured by the growing user base in diverse geographical regions and a reduction in educational access 

Team work

I think the main reason is that we have a team of different backgrounds and skillsets. We are five people with 4 different ethnicities and we have students within economics, computer science and marketing. 
Our different backgrounds helped us in identifying key factors in education that could be improved and made us realize what our idea would be.

Innovativeness

Our solution is innovative due to its integration of cutting-edge technologies, such as TecGPT and disability learning software, into a cohesive platform designed to address the unique needs of students. TecGPT, powered by advanced natural language processing and machine learning, enables an adaptive and interactive learning experience. This integration facilitates personalized guidance through dynamic subject-specific practice and virtual teaching, enhancing the overall educational journey.

The inclusion of disability learning software represents a forward-thinking approach to inclusivity. By accommodating diverse learning needs, including those associated with disabilities, our platform stands at the forefront of edtech innovation. The incorporation of features like customizable font sizes, text-to-speech capabilities, and other accessibility options ensures that the tool is not only advanced but also accessible to a broad spectrum of students, regardless of their learning profiles.

An example of this is our idea of augmenting the Large Language Model (ChatGPT) by giving it rules to not allow students to cheat but instead provide guidance is an example of this.

Combining this with AI providing result analysis, adaptive difficulty and finally the platform being disability friendly is something that does not exist yet.
  

Transferability

Our solution could be implemented into already existing study platforms. 

It could also be combined with already existing free content libraries such as KhanAcademy.

Our idea of augmenting a Large Language Model could be used in many different ways. It could be used to create a child-friendly ChatGPT or a ChatGPT that is an expert within a certain field.

Sustainability

Since the idea contains a lot of features, we would in the mid term focus on creating a platform that is In the midterm, we'll concentrate on building the core platform, curating subject-specific question banks, quizzes, and laying the groundwork for learning support features for diverse disabilities. Concurrently, we'll establish a solid framework for the AI-based virtual teacher.

In the long term, we aim to expand subject coverage and refine the AI teacher's capabilities, enhancing explanations and adaptability to cater to various learning styles. Collaborating with educators, we'll integrate the platform into classrooms, gathering feedback for ongoing improvements. Global scaling and continuous evolution based on educational advancements and user feedback will be our focus.
