Context

Students often struggle to stay motivated and organized in managing their academic performance. Traditional grade-tracking methods lack engagement. Additionally, remembering homework assignments and test schedules can feel overwhelming, leading to missed deadlines. Our solution, a grade and homework widget, not only simplifies academic tracking but also makes students remember their assignments whenever they engage with their phone. By adding an app where students can compete alongside each other making studying more competitive, our solution motivates students to study.

Innovativeness

Our widget redefines student engagement by making academic information highly accessible and interactive. Apart from other grade tracking systems, our widget allows students instant real-time access directly from their phone's home screen to their grades and homework. This widget is special because it has gamified leaderboards that turn academic progress into an engaging motivational tool. This methodology stimulates friendly competition among classmates, which encourages students to do better in an appealing way. This is an innovation in educational tools, which are usually designed without active features to inspire improvement. Combining convenience with real-time updates, it provides data that would otherwise be more difficult to access with just two simple widgets. The result is a platform that not only simplifies academic tracking but also transforms it into a motivating and engaging experience, perfectly aligned with the digital habits of today's students.

Transferability

The proposed solution is highly transferable to various educational contexts and disciplines due to its adaptable design and reliance on standard data formats. The widgets are compatible with any system capable of providing data in a simple list format (e.g., grades as a list of subject, date, and score, or assignments as subject, due date, and status). This flexibility allows the app to seamlessly integrate with different school platforms, provided an API is available for data retrieval.

The gamified leaderboard and tracking system can be applied across age groups, from primary education to higher education, and even professional training programs. Additionally, the widgets can be customized to display differnt kinds of learning data.

This adaptability ensures the solution can be implemented in diverse educational systems worldwide, promoting accessibility, engagement, and effective learning across multiple contexts.

Sustainability

We plan on making this project sustainable by ensuring the widget is efficient, user-friendly, and supports better access to school provided resources. It saves time by making, assignments, and updates easily accessible, reducing the need to navigate through multiple app sections.
We plan to present our idea to "E-klase" executives locally, showcasing how the widget can seamlessly integrate into their system. We plan to gather feedback by refining the design and testing it with a small group of students to ensure a smooth result. In the long-term, it can evolve with new features like reminders or personalized dashboards, ensuring it remains adaptable and beneficial for future needs.
