DigiEduHack 2024

Seize the opportunity, let's support people-driven digital transformation in education together!

Get ready: the 5th edition of DigiEduHack will take place 8-17 Nov 2024!

DigiEduHack Awarding Ceremony: how we got here

InstagramOn 29 April, as part of the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 in Review event, DigiEduHack organised its fourth Awarding Ceremony to praise the four winners of the 2023 edition and celebrate their contribution to advancing digital education.

At the start of the Awarding Ceremony, Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Director General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, European Commission, welcomed and congratulated the four winning teams – iTEEENER, Amp Empire, GUACAMOLE and EdMap. She added ‘Our mission today is to make education and training fit for the digital age [...] and to provide new and exciting opportunities to students, teachers and institutions'.

Each winning team then took the floor and pitched their solutions in front of a room full of stakeholders representing diverse organisations from the European digital education landscape.

Team iTEENER introduced their social network IVAN: International Volunteering Association Network. As the peak of their DigiEduHack adventure, the team outlined the hackathon itself and the intense emotions felt as they were announced as winners. For other teams, like Amp Empire, 'the journey made all along this initiative and everything we learned from that experience' was flagged as the highlight of the DigiEduHack experience.

Team Guacamole explained how their idea of creating a platform for students with special needs came to life – how they took the situation in Mexico as a starting point and then added their personal touch to the solution they crafted. Lastly, EdMap gave the audience an insight into the biggest lesson of their DigiEduHack experience. The team realized while working on their solution that the gap between education and the labour market is a global issue, not just a national one, and that an app bridging the gap can be relevant all around the world.

All teams received from the Director General, Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, their 2023 DigiEduHack Global Winners certificates in recognition of their outstanding innovation within their respective categories. At the end of the ceremony, the teams had the opportunity to take photos and commemorate their success – check out the highlights on our social media accounts: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

This is the reason why DigiEduHack exists: to bring together digital education enthusiasts of different ages and backgrounds, coders and non-coders, and give them the opportunity to make a difference! It’s now your turn to join this digital education adventure: DigiEduHack’s 5th edition will take place between the 8 and 17 November 2024 and registrations for hosts are already open. This year’s theme will see hosts and participants “imagining the future of digital education”. There’s only one requirement: to be passionate about digital education. Register today!

DigiEduHack is part of the Commission's Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027. The Action Plan is currently under review with the objective of “celebrating the past, present and future of European digital education and training”. For the Review event, the European Commission welcomed stakeholders from across the European education landscape to the start of a comprehensive review at the halfway point of its implementation.
