3DUCANDO

A solution proposed for the challenge Girls in STEAM: Teaching for Inclusion

Solution details

  • Practical and manipulative education (no stereotypes)
  • Learning from their point of interest (motivation)
  • Breaking with gender roles (girls are also creators)

Tweet / Slogan

CREATE YOUR DREAM AND BE THE MAIN CHARACTER OF YOUR FUTURE

Context

At school, students are not encouraged to give life to their own ideas.
They are not provided with the necessary technology to carry them out.
And most importantly, school does not help the awakening of scientific vocations and the curiosity that characterizes these professions.
This especially affects girls, their motivation and their creativity.

Who Benefits?

In the first place, it will benefit all children, but mainly the female gender to break the gender stereotypes: girls too can be creative and inventors.

Impact

We will move towards a practical and manipulative education without stereotypes and where learning with interest will be the motivating point for great projects.

Team work

4 students in ICT Masters at the University of Salamanca

Innovativeness

We have designed a website which we have called 3Educando, which consists of a library with a series of 3D hobby designs. These act as puzzles and if, for example, someone likes music and playing the ukulele, they can assemble and disassemble them under the same dynamic and once they understand how the ukulele itself works, they can go on to assemble it using the 3D printer, a learning process developed in class where it begins and ends in the same educational space. The aim of this innovation is for the children to be the protagonists of their own creations.

Transferability

We will start with a school as a base, implement it and evaluate its effectiveness, publicise its results and possibilities on social media and to other schools.

Sustainability

Implementation:

Create and update the Web page.
Create and update 3D designs.
Teacher training through tutorials on the page.
A 3D printer that can create the necessary materials.
