MentorIA: Revolutionizing Learning

MentorIA is a web platform designed to improve educational access in impoverished communities with connectivity, including native communities where local languages, such as Shipibo-Konibo, are commonly spoken. It seeks to foster intercultural education through technology, guiding teachers and students in the ethical and effective use of AI tools. By providing practical guides and case studies, MentorIA empowers educators to integrate AI before, during, and after classes, while also helping them detect and address potential misuse by students.

A pilot plan in Cantagallo, Lima, will introduce MentorIA in a bilingual intercultural school setting. Key steps include collaboration with community leaders, hiring bilingual educators fluent in Spanish and Shipibo-Konibo, and obtaining informed consent from students, parents, and teachers. The platform’s impact will be monitored to evaluate teachers’ AI skills, prompt creation, and the ethical use of AI in the classroom.

MentorIA values indigenous languages as an asset rather than a barrier, aiming to bridge technological and educational gaps. This model envisions future expansions to Quechua and Aymara speaking regions, promoting inclusive education and cultural appreciation throughout Peru.
