Solution details
We are proposing an initiative to help non-digital natives acquire basic digital skills, such as accessing health and public services through their digital ID (SPID), using an email account, protecting their information online and more, while creating communities to address the need for socialization at the same time. We’d like to create a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where people can meet in person, collaboratively share ideas, and mutually learn from each other, through the guidance of facilitators. To provide a concrete example, we could have a room with different tables, where people could focus on different digital skills, based on their interests and needs. We should provide the necessary technology (computers, tablets) or let participants use their own devices. Everything shown during the workshops should be replicable at home. We envision the already existing “help desks”, which currently only offer one-to-one services, promoting our initiative to their client base. We think our service should be powered mostly by public funding and volunteers. To measure its success, we could compare current and future survey results about the digital skill levels and social satisfaction of 65+ year-olds.
