Context

The challenge we are addressing is the communication barrier between deaf and hearing individuals, particularly in Latin America, where over 90% of the deaf population lacks access to sign language education. This gap leads to social exclusion, limited educational opportunities, and restricted professional prospects. Additionally, a lack of digital literacy worsens these challenges. Our goal is to create an inclusive, accessible platform that teaches sign language while improving digital literacy, fostering communication, and promoting social inclusion for both deaf and hearing communities.

Who Benefits?

Our target group includes both deaf and hearing populations in Latin America, especially those with limited access to sign language education and digital tools. Deaf individuals will benefit by gaining communication skills and digital proficiency, essential for social and professional integration. Hearing individuals will learn sign language, fostering inclusivity and understanding. Both groups will enjoy increased communication, learning opportunities, and social integration. Gamified features and certifications provide rewards, motivation, and a sense of shared learning, further enhancing the community's impact.

Impact

Signedge creates measurable social impact by breaking down communication barriers and fostering mutual understanding between deaf and hearing communities. The solution promotes inclusion, enhances digital literacy, and supports mutual learning. Its impact will be tracked through metrics like user engagement, completion rates, certifications earned, community participation, and government recognition. The ultimate measure of success is the number of users who achieve inclusive communication and contribute to creating equitable, connected societies.

Team work

Our team is uniquely positioned to bring Signedge to life, combining expertise in app development, digital education, sign language, social impact, and business strategy. Developers focus on AI-driven features for real-time feedback, while educators design engaging, inclusive content. Social impact specialists ensure the app meets the needs of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Our collaborative approach has driven the solution’s development from the start, and our shared vision of inclusivity ensures long-term commitment to success.

Innovativeness

Signedge uniquely combines sign language education with digital literacy, delivered through a gamified, interactive platform. While other sign language apps exist, none incorporate community-driven learning, gamification, certifications, and social impact models like ours. By supporting hearing aid purchases through certification revenues and offering real-time feedback and a connected community, Signedge redefines inclusive learning. This innovative blend of education, technology, and social impact sets it apart in the market.

Transferability

The Signedge model is highly transferable. Its gamified learning system can be adapted to teach other skills, languages, or vocational training. The community-driven and certification-based approach could be applied across educational sectors worldwide, enhancing digital learning experiences and promoting inclusivity in diverse contexts. This scalability makes it relevant beyond Latin America, opening doors for global applications.

Sustainability

Signedge’s implementation plan involves a phased rollout, starting with pilot programs in select Latin American regions like Lima, Peru. In the mid-term, the app will expand its user base, integrate partnerships with governments and NGOs, and continuously improve its learning experience. Long-term goals include scaling globally, enhancing content and features, and maintaining a focus on social impact, such as supporting hearing aid donations. Financial sustainability will be ensured through user engagement, government collaboration, and certification revenue.
